002 — ABOUT

About Design Assembly

It all started with a buzzy WhatsApp chat.

A group of female founders got together with an idea: put on a summer pop-up where independent brands could meet, sell and connect with shoppers in person.

What started as a one-off became Design Assembly.

December 2026 marks our fourth edition, and we’re returning to the beautiful, historic CHIJMES Hall with more than 45 independent brands spanning fashion, accessories, fine foods and gourmet treats, beauty, homeware, lifestyle, art — and, of course, plenty of gifts.

Set beneath the soaring arches of one of Singapore’s most iconic venues, Design Assembly is about more than shopping. It’s an intimate, community-led market where visitors can discover something a little different, meet the people behind the brands and take the time to hear their stories.

“The setting alone is worth the visit, but what really stood out was how intimate it felt — you could actually take your time and enjoy each brand.”

Previous Design Assembly visitor

Now led by bag designer Emily Cheetham of Elyse & i, Design Assembly champions independent makers and creates meaningful connections between brands and shoppers.

“For many small brands — including my own — we often work in isolation. One of the best things to come out of Design Assembly has been meeting other founders, sharing stories and supporting one another as creative businesses.”
